StrayCoCo = Straydog Control through Cooperation
We castrated all street dogs at the request of the Mamusha community
In April 2017, through the mediation of the Italian and Turkish KFOR management, a contract was concluded with the city of Mamusha, signed by Deputy Mayor Ganimete Sadiku. We were asked to castrate all street dogs there and started repeating the vaccinations in autumn and spring in May 2017. At the same time, we try to persuade private pet owners to castrate their animals and to call us if their animal is ill.
In January 2022, the city administration came to us again with a request to treat the stray dogs in the region. We have assigned this task to vet DVM Kreshnik Rugova from Theranda Vets (Suhareka). His team already has experience with neutering street dogs and is working correctly.
Mamusha is 95% populated by Turks and was approximately 17 km from our partners' clinic in Nagavc until 2018. After building a small animal clinic in Gjakova, we handed over the care of this town to the veterinarians in the nearby town of Suhareka. By April, 100 street dogs had been treated. In May, private dogs are chipped.
