StrayCoCo = Straydog Control through Cooperation
THREE YEARS OF CONTRACT SIGNING
FOR THE TREATMENT OF STREET DOGS
The city's mayor is a dog owner and personally visits our partner veterinarian in Mitrovica, DVM Labinot Osmani. In January 2022, he requested a cooperation agreement for the vaccination and neutering of stray and privately owned dogs. This agreement was signed in early February, and starting in March 2022, we are scheduled to treat 550 dogs in this municipality. We feel welcome in this city!
In May 2023, we signed the first agreement with Mayor Fadil Nura, who has since shown renewed interest in our neutering work. We will also be neutering in cooperation with the municipality of Skenderaj in 2024 and 2026!
Sustainability requires repeated efforts – always on the condition that the municipality fulfills its part of the agreement, both by covering a portion of the costs and by educating its citizens. Another 150 dogs will be treated – and then we'll see what the situation looks like in the autumn.

Spring 2023: Our dog catchers, here the employee Elbasan, treat street dogs gently. Whenever possible, they are fed until they get into the van almost by themselves. They are driven to Mitrovica to our Mitro-Vet clinic, where they are dewormed, vaccinated against rabies and castrated. After 3-5 days, they are allowed back on the road - with such beautiful dogs, bringing them back is always accompanied by mixed feelings for everyone involved. It hurts to leave them alone again, even though we feed them. But a short period of freedom is more valuable than any stay in an animal shelter! And for now, returning to the streets in Kosovo is (still) allowed!
