We have many street dogs in our sanctuaries - dogs that were ill or too small to be treated, castrated, and released after a short time. Adoptions of our dogs are unavoidable so that our sanctuaries in Kosovo are not overcrowded. Remember that and adopt! With every adopted dog, you save another life because we can take in a new dog.
Visit our Facebook page “më adopto” for more information about dog adoption in Kosovo.më adopto" für mehr Informationen zu Hund Adoption im Kosovo.
Adopting dogs abroad is not our core business! However, adoptions both domestically and in the diaspora are a side effect of every animal welfare organization.

If you find a dog or a puppy, you can't just take the animal home. Kosovo and Albania are considered rabies countries, i.e. when brought into an EU country or Switzerland, certain requirements must be met. Every year, puppies are euthanized in the EU and at Zurich Airport in Switzerland because they are taken away without rabies vaccination, titer testing, and subsequent quarantine. If a dog's life is worth something to you, leave it in a good place in Kosovo and give the family that takes of the dog a monthly fee to feed and care for it.
However, if you want to take the dog with you, you must be patient for a few months and bear the costs of around 1200 euros for this period, including all veterinary treatments. Our partner veterinarians on site will be happy to provide you with information!
BEWARE of veterinarians who do not have detailed knowledge of import regulations. Our dogs in the sanctuary have all the necessary vaccinations and documents to enter the EU, USA, or Switzerland.
EU requirements apply, but an additional import permit from the FSVO is required including an entry permit by air (not when traveling by car). Dogs arriving by plane require owner accompaniment. In addition, entry as freight is possible but expensive.
The requirements for EU countries are as follows: chip, rabies vaccination, titer determination one month later in an EU-recognized laboratory, 3 months waiting period, max. 10 days before departure for echinococcus treatment. All you need is a flight attendant, the owner does not have to travel personally.
If your dog has been adopted from one of our sanctuaries, our vets and workers happily bring it to the airport in Pristina/Kosovo or Tirana/Albania. Privately accommodated dogs are not transported.
In Germany, you can travel with your dog at any airport. However, attendants must contact the border veterinarian and can only enter certain airports. Here are the import airports in Germany: Click!
Caring for your dog in a clinic and their stay at the Sanctuary costs 250-300 euros per month, less in exceptional cases. Blood test in an EU-recognized laboratory approx. 100 euros are the effective costs that can be proven. In addition, there are vaccinations for the microchip, dog passport, primary immunization, rabies, and blood collection as well as deworming, with costs of between 15-20 euros per time.
Everyone bears their flight box and flight or other transport costs.
Rules for animal travel must be observed: Information here
