Rahovec - town and countryside

Einfangen von Strassenhunden in Rahovec, Kosovo

Start CNVR August 16, 2016

The head of the Rahovec District Environmental Department, Muhamed Behra, was very pleased with our commitment to animal welfare. This town has a NO KILL strategy - in complete contrast to the neighboring town of Prizren. For our part, we were therefore very pleased that we were able to start castration work in cooperation with the administration. Around 800 dogs roamed the city and villages. With the help of our donors, we tried to treat all dogs by the end of the year.

We continued our work continuously in the municipality of Rahovec. Since June 2018, the costs of street dogs have been covered by the state. That is why StrayCoco is now focusing on prevention work and treats, castrates and registers privately kept dogs, in particular shepherds and farmers.

Bujar Mustafa, who was trained in castration by Blendi Bejdoni, is now responsible for Rahovec. He is decent and honest, which is an outstanding feature in Kosovo in particular! In 2020, he also set up a simple room with boxes to treat dogs. He is also responsible for the confiscated dogs in Nagavc, our former veterinary clinic, where a few dogs from an American are kept.
