We are convinced that public animal welfare creates a learning effect. Local people see how we treat animals. But individual animal aid does not change a system! That is why every animal welfare program necessarily includes the education and training of experts, the education of children, and the involvement of the administration and political authorities. In addition, a modern infrastructure invites dog owners to have their animals treated.
Since we cannot achieve much alone, networking with other local NGOs is essential, although extremely difficult, as the commitment and working methods of NGOs differ significantly! We are currently working with the NGO SAPA (udruženje za zaštitu životinja “šapa” severna/kosovska) in the Serbian-speaking region of Kosovo. There is also a great exchange of information with the NGO SAAS (started as a stray), activists from Pristina. And finally, we get advice from FIQ, an organization for citizens' initiatives in Kosovo.
As the third pillar in the country, we also encouraged and achieved the founding of a Swiss-style association for small animal veterinarians, with DVM Dardan Pozhegu prepared to take over the presidency. DVM Blendi Bejdoni and a third vet from Prizren take over the board. Since then, the “Kosovo Small Animal Veterinary Association” (KSAVA) has organized several seminars!
