StrayCoCo = Straydog Control through Cooperation
CNVR and Veterinary Clinic in Bosnia since 2025
At the beginning of August 2025, we got involved in Cazin for a short time and noticed that dogs were being killed there. That is why we have left the village and are now active in Kljuc, because Mayor Jasmin Musiç welcomes our efforts and wants to actively help with his road workers to catch dogs and bring them to the clinic.
Our partnership with the Swiss association Hope for Dogs BiH Only made this possible through personal contact on site and signed the main contracts with both the municipality and the vet in October.
Little has changed in terms of financial expenditure for our foundation. We contribute to certain costs for catching dogs and the rent of the clinic, and we also pay 50 euros for each castration, while the association covers rabies vaccination and chipping with 15 euros. By the way, anyone who would like to support individual animal rescues can do so through our partner association, as it has excellent connections with other NGOs with Traces.
Currently, at the end of 2025, the vet is Mersad.Draganović by Kljuc is setting up new rooms for the treatment of street dogs. The future small animal clinic even has a small garden where dogs can clean themselves up after surgery. First of all, you need to do some painting work yourself!
Mersad Draganovic worked as a vet for many years before going into politics. Commenting on his previous work for other international NGOs in the community's veterinary clinic, he states: “For many years, the animal station had too many employees. I worked there from 2011 to 2018 and campaigned for this station, but with a fairly low income because there were five of us. Then I went into politics a bit in 2018 and was still active there today, but I have always voluntarily helped my colleagues with assignments and operations as well as with field work in large animal practice.” The old veterinary clinic, with which he no longer wants anything to do, is today in debt, which the community has to bear. That is why he is choosing a new independent property, where he will set up his own veterinary clinic, see above.
Contrary to the concept of other NGOs, particularly from Great Britain, we do not require that many employees be responsible for an operation. DVM Draganovic has a Vet-Tech employee and he carries out the operations on his own responsibility - exactly according to the model that we have also used in Kosovo. The check is carried out via the registry with photos, ear tag number and information on the location of capture, release and all relevant data. He has to catch very shy dogs himself, including with a cage, with neighbors reporting as soon as a dog is in.

Here we take the opportunity to present the small Bernese association (tax-exempt). Two sisters are active here, who originally come from Bosnia and have been taking individual dogs off the streets in the Bihac-Kljuc region full of energy with some networking since spring 2025 and are looking for places to live together with their EU contacts.
