How people handle dogs all over the world
In the magazine Partner dog A special article by the dedicated journalist was published Ulrike Haverkamp, which impressively sheds light on the fate of many of our protégés in the sanctuary in Kosovo. Under the title “Nolan, or the right to life” It gives an insightful insight into the lives of the dogs who live with us — many of them old, chronically ill or physically impaired.
These animals usually have had a difficult fate: They were abandoned, hit by a car, mistreated or suffered from untreated diseases for a long time. For many of them, our sanctuary is the first place where they receive safety, care and medical care. But even if they cannot be placed or have little chance of finding a home, we give them the respect and care that every living being deserves.
The focus of the article is Nolan, a dog with a severe disability who rolls across the yard in his trolley with curiosity and joy. His gaze is alert, his zest for life contagious — and yet he would hardly have any chance of survival in many countries. Thanks to the help of our supporters, local volunteers and the tireless work of our team, Nolan was able to start a new life — without pain, with care, food, social contact and exercise.
In her article, Ulrike Haverkamp describes how these dogs — although often written off — can develop an enormous quality of life if you just give them time, patience and love. She calls for people to turn to these animals too, to see them and not to forget them.
We thank Mrs. Haverkamp from the bottom of our hearts for her words, her humanity and the attention she gives to these wonderful, often invisible souls.
