Our vet helps catch stray dogs

Our vet from Gjakova/Kosovo, DVM Blendi Bejdoni, plays a central role in helping street dogs in the region. Together with his team, he regularly captures the stray dogs and brings them to safety in order to provide them with medical care and a better life. Catching activities generally take place early in the morning or late evening, when the dogs are quieter at dusk or during the night and are in safe hiding places. In order to catch the shy animals, it is important to act during these quieter times, as the dogs are very careful and suspicious of people during the day.

As soon as the dogs have been captured, a thorough examination is carried out immediately for possible illnesses and health problems. In the special enclosures of the Transitory Care Center, which also serves as our clinic, the animals are housed, fed and initially freed from fleas. They also receive much-needed deworming treatments. The next step is castration, which is usually performed on the second day after capture. After being neutered, the dogs spend another 1 to 3 days in the clinic to recover from surgery and to ensure that they are fully healthy again.

Release of stray dogs

After the dogs have recovered, they are released back to their original capture location. Through this method of controlled castration and repatriation, we contribute to sustainably controlling the population of stray dogs and improving the conditions for the animals in the long term. DVM Blendi Bejdoni and his team are thus making a valuable contribution to animal welfare in Gjakova and the surrounding regions.

We sincerely thank DVM Blendi Bejdoni for his commitment and continuous help.
