But dear animal rights activists,
Please understand that we cannot always write to you personally. We are a one-woman company, despite the Board of Trustees, the work is done by me alone. At the end of the year, I promise all donors over 30 euros at least one Christmas card - worldwide. But here I would like to thank everyone very much for any contribution. Not everyone has enough income — your donation counts and your compliments are read. Thank you!
Yes, there is a lot that sets us apart from traditional animal welfare organizations. We work in a very structured, sustainable way in defined regions, set models, enable kick-offs from local NGOs and start-ups from small animal clinics. All of this is part of sustainability - even though not everyone understands that we can't look for and treat a dog somewhere in every individual case. We have been continuously traveling in Kosovo for 9½ years (with individual assignments over years in Montenegro and help in Albania) ALONE with the castration program. This requires endless joint efforts, which are carried out free of charge here in Switzerland.
Please distribute our quarterly letters to your friends with a passion for animal welfare. We urgently need more helpers, because active help is not possible without donations. We don't just sit at the PC and attend meetings, but we DO something with a visible effect. Paper is patient, as can be seen in Kosovo, where laws and memoranda are passed full-bodied with promises, without results. Since a well-known awarding foundation no longer supports us this year following a change of management - we need you.
Kind regards
Helen Wormser
President of the Board of Trustees
In three of the four regions, we work together with the city administration, which co-controls and co-finances the operations. In Gjakova, there is still a community program running until July with our project management team, which we are in demand again. In all four regions, we also finance sanctuaries for sick or too young dogs, which we cannot treat on an outpatient basis in the streets. Thanks to sponsorships, a contribution is made to the monthly feed. We are very thankful for that.
In July, SWISSCOY and Finnish KFOR will help us to level the newly acquired property so that we can then install our dog pens and enclosures. We are very grateful that there are helpers who don't cost us anything. But we need donations for the fences and stables - things will move slowly, we have now taken the first step. The small animal clinic is then built by us together with the vet Osmani. Like our other partners, he will take out a mortgage for this, and we will help as much as we can. In addition to treating dogs, building an infrastructure for small animals is our most sustainable work - our help with start-ups for small animal clinics since 2018 has already brought a great deal to the country and pets!
What makes us particularly happy is the participation of the city. The property was previously only accessible via a muddy dirt road! The city has now begun construction of roads to our future sanctuary/small animal clinic.
Preventing the abandonment of puppies is important to us, which is why we offer penniless citizens in our regions of operation free of charge castration and rabies vaccination. And yes, there are occasionally insightful citizens like this man from a neighboring village who has hunting dogs and brought three of his females to our rented small animal clinic in Mitrovica.
Thanks to FOUR PAWS Vienna, we were invited to this international seminar because there was interest in our triparty program:
